Fly down the Course taken by the crews in the Griffith University Paradise Regatta 2007 and 2008.

Course Landmarks:

  • Starts at Southport Yacht Club in the Gold Coast Broadwater
  • Under Sundale Bridge
  • Past the Southport School
  • Through Buds Beach
  • Under Chevron Island Bridge
  • Past Appel Park (Titanium Bar)
  • Heads west and finishes at the Gold Coast Arts Centre Parklands.

The Southport School has entered 2 crews in the Griffith Univerity Paradise Regatta.

Since first trialing the concept The Southport School have supported the Regatta and remain undefeated. 

"The quality and competition in the schoolboy race has really jumped this year" TSS Head Coach Iain Smith said.

Norbert Breathes Fire into Griffith University Paradise Regatta

What started as a dream to get the mighty Dragon Boats blasting down the River at the Griffith University Paradise Regatta has grown into a reality thanks to the generous and enthusiastic suppport of Dr Norbert Gaulton of Brisbane River Dragons.

"Upon hearing that the Griffith University Paradise Regatta was going to be turned into a TV broadcast I felt this was too much of a promotional opportunity for the sport to miss and sent in my resume with an offer of assistance" Dr Gaulton said.

The Australian Rowing Team will be rigging up their boat and going for their final training paddle on the beautiful Nerang River tomorrow afternoon before the Griffith University Paradise Regatta at 3:00pm Friday 9th October at The Southport School.

 

 

A media cat will be provided for news and photography crews to get some incredible on water shots of Surfers Paradise.

This will be the final session before the epic clash with the New Zealand crew at 3:40pm Saturday.
